God made us in His image, to be perfect like Him, but we do things wrong. The wrong stuff spoils our lives and we are no longer perfect. This means we can no longer have a relationship with our father God because the wrong stuff separates us from Him.
Now you might be thinking, “I’m a fairly good person. I’ve not done that much wrong… “ But the trouble is, God includes everything – all that we say, do and even think. Suddenly it’s not looking so good is it?
The Bible uses the word ‘sin’ to represent all the wrong stuff we do. We believe that the Bible is the word of God which is why we have used it to back up this Gospel message.
‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’ This verse shows that we are all guilty of sin, and the consequence of this sin is death.
Now remember God, He is perfect. And therefore our sin separates us from having a relationship with the God that loves us. God had to come up with a plan. He sent his Son Jesus to earth, in human form.
Jesus is also perfect as He is God. In God’s plan, Jesus took all our sin and took the punishment of death. He was crucified on a cross for you.
So now if we ask Jesus for forgiveness – this means to say sorry for all our sin, and to turn away from the bad stuff we have done – He takes our dirty lives and makes them clean. This now means we can have a relationship with the God who created and loves us. It also means when we die, we no longer have to suffer hell, but instead we can join God in heaven.
When we surrender to God and accept his forgiveness, he doesn’t expect us to do it alone.
God sent a part of Himself to help us live His way. He is called the Holy Spirit. This is the part of God that lives in us and can help us to live the way God wants us to.
When we ask Him, we can receive His amazing power in our lives.
